Why I Love Being a Dog Walker
Growing up in a family that loved animals, my childhood was filled with the sounds of barking and the sight of wagging tails. I had so many dogs, rabbits, cockatoo, turtle, monkey and many more around me, each with its own personality. Me and my dogs played together, cuddled, and went on countless adventures. This early love for dogs stayed with me as I grew up.
Earlier this year, I faced a tough situation. My mom had to give away my dachshund because we were all going overseas and couldn’t take care of him. It was heartbreaking to say goodbye, but I was comforted knowing he was adopted by a kind doctor who had five other dachshunds for him to play with.
Even though I lost my dachshund, my love for dogs didn’t fade. Instead, it inspired me to become a dog walker. This job allows me to connect with dogs again and relive the joy they bring. I charge $25 an hour for dog walking, and every day feels like a new adventure. Whether we’re playing fetch at the park or taking a nice stroll around the neighborhood, I love every moment spent with these furry friends.
As a dog walker, I get to know each dog and their unique quirks. Some dogs love to chase squirrels, while others prefer to sniff around. I take pride in caring for them and making sure they have fun. Seeing their excitement when I arrive is incredibly rewarding, reminding me of the joy I experienced with my own dogs.
Being a dog walker has also helped me meet other dog lovers in the community. We share stories and bond over our love for dogs, which makes the experience even more special. Every wagging tail and happy bark reinforces my belief that dog walking is more than just a job; it’s my passion.
So, while I miss my dachshund, I am grateful for all the dogs I get to walk now. They remind me of the happiness that comes from being around loyal companions, and that’s ne of the reason to keep me happy everyday.
